LSD Architects (Laboratory Sustaining Design) was founded in 2006 and has its office in Tamarindo, Guanacaste. Led by architects Rodolfo Tinoco and Luis Mauricio Solís, the studio designs and builds architecture, landscapes and interiors. Its portfolio includes houses in Tamarindo and Ostional, Hotel Capitán Suizo and the Tamarindo lifeguard tower.
An approach to architecture.
The studio's method takes its cue from the landscape, looking for organic geometries and earthy tones that help buildings blend with their surroundings, along with solar power and water collection where projects allow.

A house in the hills above Playa Tamarindo, built in 2020, whose undulating parabolic roofs trace curves against the mountain and bring daylight inside. ArchDaily publishes it as Wave House, with 900 m², structural engineering by S3 and construction by LSD.
A house completed in 2023 on a hillside above Playa Ostional, a sea turtle nesting beach, sited so that it reads as a single story while the lower levels sit in the slope. Automated screens block artificial light, the planted roofs collect water, and a photovoltaic system generates the energy the house uses.
